About Rick Alvis
Rick's practice is exclusively limited to representing plaintiffs in civil litigation. His main areas of practice are product liability, medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death and chemical exposure. Much of his work in the area of product liability has been concentrated in the areas of automobile crashworthiness and tire failure. Rick is admitted to practice in Alabama, Tennessee, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, but represents clients throughout the southeast.
Rick Alvis was born in Hartselle and graduated from Gardendale High School in 1975. He obtained his BA degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham and his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in 1984. While at Cumberland, he was very active in the Trial Advocacy Program and was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board. He also served as Materials Editor for the American Journal of Trial Advocacy.
He originally started out with a larger firm representing insurance companies and corporations but soon realized that was not his calling. In 1985, he started representing injury victims and their families exclusively and has done so ever since.
Rick has achieved an"AV" rating by Martindale - Hubbell, the highest possible ranking for a practicing attorney by the leading institution of attorney ratings. Rick was also selected to Super Lawyers for 2020, 2022 - 2023. This peer designation is awarded only to a select number of accomplished attorneys in each state. The Super Lawyers selection process takes into account peer recognition, professional achievement in legal practice, and other cogent factors.
